Feature : Alpine Competitive Edge
The weekend of the Auto Salon (May 17-18th) HiFi Marketing, the New Zealand distributors of Alpine, launched Alpine Competitive Edge (ACE), which main aim is to create a team of loyal show/audio competitors of the product and designed to recognize and support those competitors. ACE was launched 2 years ago in the US as a program for the die-hard IASCA, USAC or dB Drag Racing competitors that utilize Alpine gear to build their system.
There are currently four competitors under the ACE program in New Zealand:
Frank Liew, original owner of F1ERCE, the show-stopping Civic, which has since been sold. The Civic was equipped with an Alpine CVA-1005E 6.5" LCD unit controlling four Type-R 12" subs powered by two M300 digital amps and Type-R components up front. Frank has said he will return to the scene sometime in the future, and his new toy will be Alpine equipped. We're waiting... ;)
Mike Epapara, owner of N1 Kits and another show stopping Civic, MRVTEC. 18" rims squat inside the guards of his 1998 Honda Civic, which is dropped to the floor come competition time thanks to the Skunkworks adjustable coilovers. A carbon fiber bonnet and aggresive kit set off the outside. Inside, an Alpine CVA-1000 6.5" LCD unit controls the system, with Alpine ZR subs out back and DDDrive components up front.
Wayne Fowler, owner of the ever-present REDLIN WRX wagon, which refuses to stop winning sound quality and dB drag competitons. Wayne has one of the few Alpine F#1 Status sound processors in New Zealand, and its the brains behind his system, which also consists of some now rare DDDrive 12" subs and DDDrive components up front.
Kris Noble (Oooh, thats me :P), owner of the PLAYLD Sierra wagon, which also refuses to stop winning sound quality competitions and attracting the public to the multiple LCD screens. My system is controlled by an Alpine CVA-1005E and passes along to four Type-R 12" subs powered by a single M500 digital amp, F#1 Status 3-way components do the duty up front.
