Sound Tech 4 - Amplifiers -
All mobile audio systems consist of a source, an amplifier (commonly built
into the source unit) and numerous speakers. Each source is capable of
providing a small amount of electrical output. However, by themselves,
these electrical currents are too weak to provide the power needed to
move a voice coil and diaphragms that make up the speakers.

Alpine 2003 Alpine Mini Demo Car Video -
Stuck at home during a typical summer weekend (read: torrential downpour),
I blended together the photo log of the
Mini into a
groovy slideshow, featuring one of my musical soundtracks. It's been bounced
around by local dealers within NZ, and is even playing continously at the
showroom of NZ's Alpine distributors, HiFi Marketing. It's a 18MB WMV, so
be aware before you click

Alpine 2003 Alpine Mini Demo Car -
Remember the Alpine Civic from last years CES? Well, at CES 2004 just
a couple of months ago another vehicle was launched. Yet again,
Alpine's US in-house Advanced Application Design team, this year
consisting of Steve Brown and Mike Vu, have pushed the limits of in-car
entertainment to new levels. The victim this time: a 2003 Mini Cooper.

Sound Tech 3 - Speakers -
Speakers and musical instruments do share similar properties, including
the laws governing their behaviour. It is a miracle, a speaker system can
be made to sound real, but the fact is, most don't. Loudspeakers have
principally remained unchanged for approx 50 years, there have been few
improvements since their invention.

Sound Tech 2 - Acoustics -
Well designed auditoriums give acoustical directivity from stage to
audience, with a fine balance of reverberation to enhance performance.
When recording, musicians select the right reverberation for the music.
However, once recorded, extra room reverberation detracts from the music.
The perfect listening environment for recorded music is 100% absorbent at
all frequencies (free field).

Sound Tech 1 - Intro/Frequencies -
Over the last several years I have been involved in car audio in some way,
from a Civic where I was running a JBL 12" off my head unit to the present,
being my multimedia filled wagon. Every step and upgrade was a challege,
and with that challege came knowledge.

Alpine 2002 Alpine Civic Demo Car -
Alpine's US in-house Advanced Application Design team of Chris Yato and
Steve Brown have the best job in the world. They take a standard domestic
vehicles, strip them down, and fill them with up Alpine ICE gear until the
warehouse is empty. Their track record speaks for itself, two years ago
they stunned CES (Consumer Electronics Show) with full custom interior BMW,
last year they produced the space age Acura RSX and now, the alien like Civic.

Alpine Competitive Edge -
The weekend of the Auto Salon (May 17-18th) HiFi Marketing, the New Zealand
distributors of Alpine, launched Alpine Competitive Edge (ACE), which main
aim is to create a team of loyal show/audio competitors of the product and
designed to recognize and support those competitors. ACE was launched 2
years ago in the US as a program for the die-hard IASCA, USAC or dB Drag
Racing competitors that utilize Alpine gear to build their system.
